How does call "system" work
I am asking when does the call return for a line such as the following on a Linux system:

CALL "SYSTEM" USING BATCH-REP-CMD-LINE RETURNING CALL-RET-VAL

The last character in the line is an "&".

Does the call wait until the job finishes to get the return value or does it get a return value right away when the job is accepted to run in the background?

Thanks, Steve

Re: How does call "system" work
Hi,
the call "SYSTEM" returns a fixed param called return-code (see pdf OC programmer guide).
